History
The company's history began in 2003 under the name PTC (Productos Tecnologicos Catalanes), with the Republic Group's desire to develop a new business selling cigarette filters in bags.
At that time, the plant in Esparraguera was packaging bags using “cups” as a measure to fill the filter bags.
In 2004 packaging of the filter tips was automated. A new business was launched in that same year: screenprinting and pad printing of sprays and wipes for the Optics market.
In 2008 PTC purchased its first filter manufacturing machine and began producing its own filters.
In 2011, to increase its production capacity in the face of growth, the company relocated to Sant Andreu de la Barca (Barcelona).
In 2013 PTC invested in its first automated filter packaging line, and expanded its business with the launch of cigarette tube manufacturing and the installation of a Decouflé line.
In 2015 a second, next-generation tube machine was installed, boosting production capacity to 3.5 billion tubes per year.
In 2021 PTC changed its name to RTIB, Republic Technologie Iberia, to reflect its status as a full-fledged member of the Républic Group. The site was relocated to Abrera in that same year, expanding the plant from 3,500 m² to 11,000 m² and capping a new milestone.
